the only game that got me off of HALO 3.

This is, and always will be, my favorite game of all time.

Halfly its also more of the fact playing online with others was becoming more prominent at the time. Shooter games became the staple point for online multiplayer. That all is what mostly changed the genre forever too.

I got a good tactic for ya.....with m1 grand.. every time you hear the clip jump out...its time to reposition. shoot a clip....replace...shoot a clip,replace....

it was and still is to this day the best online first-person shooter experience I've ever had

The Halo Killer enventually turned out to become Titanfall in a way or another hasn't it? Also, as much as I loved the Modern Warfare campaigns back in the day, it's funny how they left the killing nazis of WW2 to embrace one their modern day equivalents as the protagonists. It's a shame Insurgency Sandstorm's campaign got canceled as I would've loved playing as the Peshmerga, even if it wasn't going to have a imperial superpower hell bent on destroying and killing everyone as the enemies

Cod always did something for me that few other games did with it's campaign : It made me care about my allies and as a team we would overcome any challenge, I felt so immersed by those games that I eventually got good at shooting so I could prevent friendly npc's deaths as I advance through their maps. I played both PS1 MoH and then COD1, 2 ,4 and 5 and I still love each one of them. Thanks for the video!

I was about 12 at the time of Cod 4's release, an avid FPS PC gamer already. Its effects cannot be overstated. CoD4 is the baseline of every single FPS developed since its release. It was not necessarily the first to introduce many of its mechanics, but it essentially perfected them. Regenerating health, 1 button melee/grenades, ADS, stamina and sprinting, classes, perks, killstreaks, etc. Again, it wasn't the first to do most or any of these, but it essentially standardized all of them by putting the mechanics of other games to shame. Even control scheme has largely conformed to the precedent set by CoD 4.

God i miss MW1 and 2. They were the peak of games. Mp was amazing. All the new BF and COD games suck

cod4 invented the shooter genre we still know today, it hasn't drastically changed since that point. create a class, kill streaks, challenge rewards, prestige system, and the best spawn system ever used in a shooter game. true goat

Never understood the WW2 fatigue reviewers felt. I just wished they explored it properly, there's so many stories to be told outside of Africa, DDay and battle of the Bulge

Seeing all those old forum posts is really funny to me. The COD cycle was active even back in 2006. People got sick of World War 2, so they made Modern Warfare in 2007. People got sick of that "boots on the ground" style with Ghosts in 2013? Time to move to Advanced Warfare and jetpack games in 2014. Sick of that in 2016 with Infinite Warfare? Back to boots on the ground with WW2 in 2017. On and on until we get to now where people are once again kinda bored with MW in 2023, so we're going back to the 90's and then future again with BO6 this year and likely BO7 in 2025, respectively. Also, love that "Clean House" mission towards the end of your video. Still one of the best COD missions of all time, even if it's barely 10 minutes long.

Perhaps COD Waw would be next
